There are two major hormones in both men and women - these are testosterone and estrogen. Testosterone is dominant in males and estrogen is dominant in females.  However, one must be careful with their hormone levels.

There is a myth that testosterone causes breast enlargement, prostate problems, excessive water retention, fat gain particularly in the lower half of the body and mood swings. This is false. Estrogen, in excess, causes these side effects. 

Testosterone converts in the body into other hormones and metabolites. For example, testosterone converts into estrogen through a process called aromatization (an enzyme called aromatase is involved in this conversion). During testosterone supplementation, there is more testosterone in the body and therefore higher amounts of this hormone can be converted into estrogen. Therefore estrogen levels can be increased during testosterone supplementation, and therefore should be monitored and maintained to avoid side effects caused by excessive estrogen.
