In the early 1970's a group of American scientists were researching marine life for possible cancer treatments. Marine organisms from the pristine waters of New Zealand were included for their study. How can I tell if a Green Lipped Mussel (GLM) product contains the original GLM isolate with the MMP-Inhibiting ability?
Unfortunately, consumers are not able to tell by the appearance, smell or even the nutritional analysis whether the product is the genuine GLM isolate or simply freeze-dried (lyophilized) whole mussel meats ground into a powder or an imitation extract.  The only way the customer can be sure that they are getting the genuine product is by looking for the brand name BeActive and the ingredient name "Mariplex-GLM" in the Supplement Facts section of the ingredient panel.

Does BeActive contain Omega-3's and other omega Fatty Acids, like the GLM lipid products?
Yes.  BeActive contains the same Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids as other GLM lipid products.  Since BeActive is derived from GLM it contains the naturally occurring Omega-3, 6 and 9 Essential Fatty Acids (listed below),  plus trace amounts of Omega-5 and 7 Essential Fatty Acids.  Other GLM products may contain other Essential Fatty Acids, however these are not naturally found in GLM.  Rather, these are additives that possibly come from other oils (olive, fish, etc.) that are added during manufacturing.

How is BeActive different from Glucosamine and Chondroitin?
In vitro (laboratory) studies on BeActive's unique glyco-amino isolate show it to have a more extensive range of activity for reducing joint and muscle discomfort compared to Glucosamine and Chondroitin.  BeActive can be taken in combination with these and other joints supplements to enhance their effectiveness.

Is BeActive enteric coated?
Neither BeActive's capsule, nor the active ingredients within are enteric coated.  However studies have shown that BeActive still provides therapeutic benefits without this coating.

Does BeActive contain Uric Acid?
BeActive does not contain any Uric Acid.  However, as with anything shellfish-based (as well as cheeses and wines) it does contain Purines, which are precursors to Uric Acid.  Therefore persons with Gout, or concerns over Gout, should consult with their health professional before taking BeActive.

Does BeActive contain Iodine?
All seawater contains Iodine, therefore since BeActive's ingredients are ocean-cultivated, it is reasonable to assume that there may some level of Iodine in it.  Historical testing has indicated that levels of Iodine in BeActive were below normal levels of detection, and therefore would have no positive or negative impacts on your health.
