Bulbine Natalensis Extract

GnRH stimulates the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary. LH is the hormone that directly stimulates cells in the testes to produce and release testosterone. Bulbine natalensis extract has also been shown to stimulate LH by 169%, as compared to placebo!

Researchers have additionally determined that Bulbine natalensis extract also increases cholesterol in the testes. Cholesterol is the equivalent of raw material in the testes needed to create testosterone. Cholesterol is taken up into the mitochondria of the testes where it is processed into pregnenolone, which can then be converted into various sex steroids. Due to cholesterol's status as a raw material, its uptake into the testes is often the rate-limiting step in sex steroid synthesis. Thus, enhanced GnRH-LH signaling and cholesterol formation in the testes are two important properties that support enhanced testosterone synthesis.
